In the last week of Term 2, Keelan Birch of Year 12 and Jakob Dillon of Year 9, travelled down to Thornleigh in Sydney for the annual NSWCHS state squash carnival. Playing as 1st and 2nd seed respectively for the North Coast team the boys played in both the team and individual events. Thanks to consecutive wins in the teams division the North Coast group, alongside boys all from Coffs Harbour Squash, they came 2nd in the state to the Western region.
In the individuals both Keelan and Jakob made the quarter finals but were knocked out by two western players. Keelan losing 11-9 in the 5th game and Jakob went down to u/19 Australian no. 1 who ended up winning the tournament. The consistent effort throughout the week earned both players a place in the NSW team of 4, with Keelan competing in the open division and Jakob in the u/15's, a great achievement. They now travel to Acacia Ridge in QLD from the 18th-22nd August for the Trans-Tasman Test series against New Zealand and Queensland. Their selection in the NSW team maintained the Woopi High squash success tradition, congratulations Keelan and Jakob.
