WHS Cross Country 2017
The annual cross country carnival will be held on Friday 7th April 2017, starting and finishing at the school bus bay.
Homegroup – As per normal for all students
Period 1, 2 & Break 1 – As per normal for all students
Period 3 – As per normal for all students with the exception of:
• Senior students who are preparing fundraising BBQ
• Senior competitors in X-C races which involve 2 laps
12.10pm Two lap races – Boys 18's (8km)
– Boys 16's & 17's (6km)
– Girls 18's (6km)
END of Period 3(12.40) – Rest of school make their way out to Area 2, 3 and 4 ONLY for the remainder of the day.
12:50pm – 16's & 17 girls (4km)
1:10pm – 14's & 15's girls (4km)
1:30pm – 14's & 15's boys (4km)
1:50pm – 12's & 13's girls (3km)
2:10pm – 12's & 13's boys (3km)
2:20pm – Novelty event for extra house points
2.55pm – Roll Call (back in period 5 classes)
First six placegetters go on to compete at Zone to be held in South Grafton on Monday 15th May 2017.
All students are encouraged to participate in the carnival …Students are reminded that normal attendance requirements will apply. Students are strongly advised to be SUNSMART i.e. wear a hat, have plenty of sunscreen and a shirt (preferably in your house colour). There will be some marquees for shade.
Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the carnival and support their children. Please encourage students to bring a packed lunch or support the Senior fundraising BBQ.
To achieve gold award level in 2017 students must ATTEND and be ACTIVELY INVOLVED in the school Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. There are plenty of jobs for non-participants so they can be ACTIVELY INVOLVED (setting up, data entry, running messages etc.)
In the event of heavy rain, an announcement concerning alternative arrangements will be made on radio stations Star FM and 2CHY FM at approximately 7.30am. Please do not phone theses stations, wait and listen. A notice will also be posted on the school website. In the event of inclement weather, come prepared for normal lessons. If you are unsure please come prepared for both the carnival and lessons. Mufti day dress will be acceptable.
